WHAT IS MY LEARNING STYLE?
What are the Seven Learning Styles?
Visual
Verbal
Physical
Interpersonal
Auditory
Logical
Solitary
Do Any of These Sound Like You?
Visual
Are you someone who likes to draw things out? Maybe you remember diagrams and faces rather than names and numbers. When you think about something, do you try to envision it, or understand the real meaning behind it? If so, you may be a visual learner, you love pictures!
Auditory
Are you someone who needs someone to say something out loud in order for you to remember it? Maybe you talk to yourself when trying to walk through a problem? You learn best from a discussion format when people are talking about the topic. If this sounds like you, you may ba an auditory learner!
Verbal
Are you someone who loves to write and/or talk? You find yourself using mnemonics and storytelling in order to remember things. Maybe you talk out loud to yourself in order to remember things? If so, you may be a verbal learner!
Logical
Are you someone who is naturally good with numbers? Maybe you love to make lists and organize. You easily recognize patterns tend to group things in order to remember them. If this sounds like you, you may be a logical learner!
Physical
Are you someone who needs to be hands-on when you learn? You remember the most when you do the task yourself rather than listen to someone explain it. Maybe you excel at crafts and projects that require more than a powerpoint. If so, you may be a physcial learner!
Interpersonal
Are you someone who loves people? You constantly find yourself in a group, or people come to you for advice. You tend to excel in group projects rather than individual ones. If this sounds like you, maybe you're an interpersonal (social) learner!
Solitary
Are you someone who just likes to be left alone. You find that you do your best work by yourself, and you find it hard to concentrate when others are around. If this sounds like you, you may be a solitary learner!
So, What Should I Take Away From This?
WHAT IF MORE THAN ONE STYLE SOUNDS LIKE ME?
That is NORMAL! Most people have 2-3 preferred learning styles. We suggest that you pick your top 3-4 and experiment with a dual enrollment class! See what works and what doesn't. That way, you won't be wasting time trying to figure out how to study in college when you should be using your time actually studying (:
HOW DO I REALLY KNOW THAT THIS IS MY LEARNING STYLE?
The only way to really know is to test them out and see how you do on assignments. How much did you retain, did you do well, and how difficult was the learning process? If you want, you can take a quiz to see what your results will be, but there isn't a better method than you trying these out to see what works for you!
